Ten reasons why you should absolutely study Italian.

  1. Italy is the world’s fourth most studied language. Trailing only English, Mandarin and Chinese, and ahead of French, despite a seemingly massive deficit in terms of population numbers and former colonies, as a foreign language Italian still stands tall as world’s fourth most-taught foreign language. A fact attesting to true love for the language that goes way beyond the sheer figures of potential “native” speakers whether by birth or acquisition as former colonies. Actually, unlike the top three most spoken global languages, which are often studied strictly for business or international relations, people study Italian for love of the arts, food, fashion, design, music, and cinema.
  2. Italy is the 8th-largest economy globally by nominal GDP, the 4th-largest in Europe, the 2nd-largest manufacturing powerhouse in Europe behind Germany and 4th largest exporting nation in the world. Learning Italian will enhance your career perspective both locally and abroad.
  3. Italy ranks as the 8th-largest bilateral donor among OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Development Assistance Committee (DAC) members. Africa remains its primary regional focus, capturing approximately 16% of Italy’s gross bilateral ODA (Official development assistance). Adding “La Dolce Lingua” to your skill set will give a massive competitive edge in the job market.
  4. Home to the world’s oldest modern university (University of Bologna founded in 1088), Italy is one of the world’s leading destinations for higher education. Despite offering an increasingly higher number of English-taught courses, besides your ease of communication once in the country, studying “Dante Alighieri’s language” will help you access a wider range of courses that are currently not taught in English, to best suit your passions and endeavours.
  5. In recent years, Italy has been strategically positioning itself economically and geopolitically seeking bilateral agreements especially in the Sub-Saharan Africa to open up to new markets. As a matter of fact, through “Piano Mattei”, Italy focuses on equal partnerships with African nations across energy, water, agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure. Italy has formalised these ties with targeted bilateral agreements, including Action Plans with Kenya (2026–2029). Kenya is a foundational partner in Italy’s Piano Mattei per l’Africa, with the two nations officially adopting the Italy–Kenya Action Plan 2026–2029. The partnership focuses on food security, climate resilience, the blue economy, and artificial intelligence. Studying Italian will place you in a unique position to strategically position yourself to make the most of the opportunities that come with this cooperation.
  6. Italian employers are increasingly looking to hire workers from Kenya and Africa to fill labour shortages in agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality and caregiving sectors. This shift is supported by the ITALY–KENYA ACTION PLAN 2026–2029, which establishes legal pathways for Kenyan professionals and vocational graduates to work in Italy. If you are a vocational graduate and looking into applying for jobs in Italy, studying Italian is necessarily the first step in your post-graduation journey.
  7. Consistently ranking as a top innovator globally, holding a strong top 30 position in the Global Innovation Index, and 5th in Europe for industrial robotics Italy is a top destination for creative minds and is keen at attracting the brightest minds worldwide. Being a largely non-English speaking country, learning the Italian will greatly enhance your chances to join an intriguing environment that will sharpen your skills, in terms of innovation and work of ingenuity.
  8. Italy is the global leader in the luxury goods industry by volume, boasting the highest number of companies (23) in the top 100 global luxury players. Italian brands are consistently ranked among the world’s most valuable, dominating sectors from high fashion and leather goods to sports cars and motorcycles. Learning Italian could open avenues to working with Italian household names like Versace, Armani, Gucci, Ferrari, Ducati, Todds and many more.
  9. Italy consistently ranks as the 5th most visited country in the world for international tourist arrivals, drawing over 60 million global visitors annually. Within the European Union, it places a close 2nd in total overnight stays (behind Spain), and ranks 1st globally for cultural resources and historical assets. On the other hand, Italy is Kenya’s second-largest European tourist source market, with over 90,000 annual visitors. So, whether you are planning a trip to Italy or want to join the local tourism industry targeting Italian tourists, learning the language is a great asset.

Learning a foreign language significantly accelerates and improves your ability to learn subsequent languages. The mental gymnastics involved in mastering one language strengthens the brain’s linguistic framework, making the process of picking up others much smoother. Starting to learn Italian will greatly come in handy should you decide to learn another foreign language for whichever purpose.

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is the international standard used to describe language ability. It divides proficiency into six levels across three broad categories, commonly measured by “can-do” descriptors.

Basic User

A1 (Beginner):

Can understand and use very basic, everyday expressions. Can introduce themselves, ask and answer basic questions about personal details (e.g., where they live, people they know), and interact simply if the other person speaks slowly and clearly

A2 (Elementary):

Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to immediate areas of relevance (e.g., shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple, routine tasks and describe their background and immediate needs.

Independent User

B1 (Intermediate):

Can understand the main points of clear, standard input on familiar matters encountered in work, school, or leisure. Can deal with most travel situations, produce simple connected text on familiar topics, and describe experiences, events, dreams, and ambitions.

B2 (Upper-Intermediate):

  • Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. This is the minimum level required by Italian authorities to study and work in Italy.

Proficient User

C1 (Advanced):

Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognize implicit meaning. Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly for social, academic, and professional purposes.

C2 (Mastery):

Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. Can express themselves spontaneously, very fluently, and precisely, even in more complex situations.

Our Packages

Our Italian course packages are either individual or group packages consisting of a minimum of five to a maximum of fifteen students per group. Individual classes are designed for people who want maximum flexibility and classes tailored to meet their specific needs in terms of time management, urgency of learning and personal preferences. Group classes are set up upon meeting a minimum quorum of 5 students. After four lessons from the date of beginning of the classes, new students shall not be allowed to join ongoing classes unless they can prove to be up to level with the rest of the group.

Unless self-declared a beginner, all new students take a test to ascertain their current language level so as to avoid students repeating concepts already studied and fast track their journey to their certificate.

All our packages consist of six different modules per level of certification. Each level envisages 60 hours of live lessons. However, this largely depends on each individuals learning ability. We also provide intensive courses for those looking into fast-tracking their language learning process. Our standard package course comes with two weekly classes of one and a half hours each for a total of 20 weeks. Intensive programmes consist of 4 two-hour live lessons per week, for a total of 8 weeks per level. Below is a table with our tuition fees and test fees to be paid directly to the certifying body.
